Dr. A. Subramanian

Dr. A. Subramanian did his college studies (P.U.C to M.Phil, 1974-1981) at Madras Christian College, Chennai. He started his teaching career in 1981 as Assistant Professor in the faculty of Political Science at Madras Christian College, Chennai.

He was awarded a Doctorate Degree on the area related to most primitive Tribals of Andaman and Nicobar Islands at the University of Madras in 1995. He has guided 7 Ph.D and more than 20 M.Phil scholars. He piloted many projects and had published several articles in the National and International Journals.

He was a Visiting Scholar at the Disaster Research Centre, University of Delaware, Newark, U.S. in 2006. He presented papers at the National Academy of Sciences, Washington, D.C, Bridge Water State University, Massachusetts and Disaster Research Centre, University of Delaware, Newark.

He had held various positions at Madras Christian College, served as Department Head – Faculty of Political Science, Dean – Student Affairs, Dean – Humanities and Staff Nominee – Governing Body.

He retired in 2014 after 34 years of service at Madras Christian College. After retirement, he held the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor in St. Joseph University, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania during 2014-2015, Dean – Science and Humanities, SRM University, Ramapuram Campus during 2015-2017. Nodal Officer – Vice Chancellor Search Committee, Periyar University, Selam during 2017-2018. Currently serving as Dean – Student Affairs, VISTAS, 2018 to till date.

He has visited U.S, Canada, New Zealand, U.K, Tanzania, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal and Dubai.
