Dr. Capt. N. Kumar – Director(School of Maritime Studies)

Dr. Capt. N. Kumar, Master (FG), MICS, MBA,. is the Director of School of Maritime Studies, Vels Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies (VISTAS). He is Merchant Navy Ship Captain and also completed Ph.D in Management. He completed the pre sea training with SCI’s Maritime Training Institute in 1993.

During his tenure in the Merchant Navy, he sailed with Shipping Corporation of India Limited, Univan Ship Management Limited and Fleet Management Limited. He has command experience on board product/Crude Oil Carriers and Chemical Tankers. He has to his credit an MBA and is a member of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, UK. He obtained first position in the ICS, UK Professional Qualifying Examination 2009 in Chennai region. He has been associated with Maritime Training for more than 17 years.
