About
Dr Preethaa manages operations of the Vels conglomerate comprising 43 institutions, 36000 students and 6000 staff in India, Singapore and UK. She completed her Masters in Management from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences and pursued her PhD in Women Entrepreneurship.
Her vision transcends borders, aiming to redefine Indian education to meet global standards and democratize premium education for all strata of society. Through Vels Scholarship Admission Test, she has enabled more than 1500 students to pursue higher education free of cost every year.
She has been instrumental in setting up a process oriented, outcome based and technology driven approach across all key divisions of Vels University. Through various initiatives, she has created a conducive ecosystem for quality academics, research and innovation. Under her leadership, Vels University has emerged in the band 100-150 universities in the prestigious NIRF 2023 rankings.
On observing how Covid 19 pandemic exacerbated gender inequality, she conceived “VFund Women”, a start-up pitch competition to promote and support exclusively woman entrepreneurs. Her mentorship and support have helped these start-ups scale up and run profitably today.
As the Pink Ambassador of India Turns Pink, she works alongside the NGO to spread awareness and mitigate breast cancer through early detection.
