About
Prof.S. Sriman Narayanan, presently is the Vice-Chancellor of VISTAS since September 1, 2020. He was the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for a period of one year in VISTAS itself during 2019-2020. Previously, he was a member of the Syndicate Committee of the University of Madras for three months which was discharging the duties of the Vice-Chancellor during 2016 and he was the Member-Syndicate, University of Madras for two years from 2014. He was holding the position of Dean-Research at University of Madras for three years, as the Director of Guindy Campus, University of Madras for an year, as the Director, National Centre for Nano Science and Nano Technology, University of Madras for two years, as Chairperson for School of Chemical Sciences for an year, as Chairperson, School of Photonics and Nanosciences for an year, Member of Senate and Academic Council for four years and Professor & Head, Department of Analytical Chemistry, University of Madras for four years from 2012-2016.
He was a visiting faculty at the Department of Bioengineering, Clemson University, South Caroline, USA for a period of two years from 2001-2002, Visiting Professor, National Taipei University, Taiwan for three months in 2007 and INSA Fellow at Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany for three months in 1998.
He has received University Gold medal in 1979 for M.Sc. from University of Madras, INSA DFG Exchange Visitor Award in 1998, Tamil Nadu Scientist Award for Chemical Sciences from Government of Tamil Nadu in 2006, Academic Achievement Award by University of Madras in 2012 and in addition to receiving Best Paper Awards in various Conferences around 20 times. He has received around Rs.1.52 crores from various funding agencies for his research works and has facilitated Grants of Rs.40 crores under DST Purse Programmes and Rs.100 crores for Nano Science and Nano Technology from MHRD to University of Madras.
He has guided 28 Ph.D.and 25 M.Phil. scholars, published 167 research papers in Peer Reviewed Journals and has presented 187 Research Papers in Conferences. He has a total Citation of 3894 with a h-index of 33.
