Dr. T. Sasipraba is an accomplished academic leader, researcher, and visionary administrator with more than three decades of dedicated service in higher education. She began her career as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sathyabama Engineering College in 1995 and, through consistent academic and professional distinction, ascended to the position of Vice Chancellor of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in 2020—an inspiring journey achieved in just 25 years.

A distinguished scholar, Dr. T Sasipraba holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering  from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology,  M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering (University of Madras , 4th Rank Holder) and a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Madras. Her strong academic foundation and passion for technology have shaped her contributions to institutional growth, research excellence, and educational innovation.

Throughout her tenure, she has held several key academic and administrative positions including Professor and Head of the Department of Information Technology, Dean – Publications and Conferences, Dean – Research and Development, and Pro Vice Chancellor. In each of these roles, she has demonstrated a rare combination of strategic vision, organizational capability, and commitment to quality enhancement. She has successfully obtained funded research projects from national and international agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DST), AICTE, ISRO, Ministry of Education (MoE), and the European Union, significantly contributing to the institution’s research ecosystem.

As Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Sasipraba has provided visionary leadership during a phase of significant institutional transformation. With a steadfast commitment to academic excellence and national priorities, she championed curriculum reforms aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, fostered a culture of interdisciplinary research, and enabled the establishment of new centres of knowledge and innovation. Her leadership has elevated the institution to the highest standards of quality and global recognition. She has further strengthened global academic partnerships, elevated the institution’s international standing, and provided strategic leadership in shaping and advancing long-term institutional development plans through 2030—ensuring sustained excellence, global relevance, and future readiness.

Dr. Sasipraba’s contributions extend well beyond administration. She has organized over 82 international conferences, coordinated multiple accreditation and ranking frameworks and introduced CDIO principles in engineering education as part of a global initiative to reform learning outcomes. Her efforts in research and development include the creation of IPR facilitation mechanisms, resulting in more than 800 patent filings, the establishment of Centres of Excellence in frontier areas of Science and Technology, and the promotion of industry collaboration through skill-development and consultancy projects.

Recognized for her leadership and service, she has received numerous honours, including the UKIERI–AICTE CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership, Star of Excellence Awards (2021, 2022), and Inspirational Icon in Internationalization of Indian Education (2019). She also serves as a NAAC Assessor, FICCI Higher Education Committee Member, Asian Leader of CDIO, IEEE Senior Member, and AICTE Margdarshak, mentoring institutions to achieve national accreditation standards.

As a Principal Investigator and Coordinator of numerous national and international funded projects, Dr. Sasipraba has successfully mobilized over Rs.12 crores in research grants from premier funding agencies such as the AICTE, DST, ISRO, MHRD, and the European Union (Erasmus+). She also serves as the Nodal Head for Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship Bootcamps, fostering a vibrant ecosystem of innovation and startup culture in academic environments.

Her  projects, such as the Centre of Excellence in Frontier Areas of Science and Technology (Rs. 4 crores, MHRD), Design and Development of ANFIS Controller (ISRO), multiple DST-funded projects  on environmental monitoring and geospatial web services and Agri Innovation Hub(DST SEED) have positioned her as a recognized leader in applied technological research. Dr. T Sasipraba is the Project Investigator for the European Union Funded Capacity Building project titled “Developing Information, Research and Digital Skills for Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal (NSIS)” and this Project Involves 14 Institutions from 7 countries working towards capacity Building of Higher Education Institutions in developing nations.

Dr. Sasipraba’s scholarly output is prolific and impactful, comprising over 150 research publications in reputed international journals and conference proceedings including Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, IET, and IEEE. Her works encompass emerging areas like AI-driven healthcare diagnostics, neuro-fuzzy modelling, Machine learning for marine biodiversity, cloud data security, and environmental monitoring through remote sensing. Her contributions have been widely cited, reflecting both academic merit and practical relevance. She has served as Guest Editor for Materials Today: Proceedings and as Editor for Nano Hybrids and Composites, contributing to the dissemination of contemporary research in nanoscience and materials engineering. She has also been an active organizer and contributor to several National and International conferences, nurturing interdisciplinary collaboration and global academic engagement.

Dr. T Sasipraba’s leadership extends beyond research to academic governance and capacity building. Through various initiatives, she has mentored faculty and students across institutions, emphasizing innovation-driven education aligned with NEP 2020. Her involvement in the IDE Bootcamps and introduction of Design Thinking courses in the Engineering Curriculum further illustrates her commitment to experiential learning, entrepreneurship, and technology-based education reform.

Internationalization has been a defining hallmark of her tenure. She has undertaken academic and professional visits to nearly thirty countries to date. Dr.T Sasipraba strengthened global academic partnerships across continents, enabling student and faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives, collaborative academic offerings, and cross-cultural learning opportunities. Her sustained engagement with international academic networks enhanced the institution’s global standing and visibility, positioning it as a globally connected and culturally responsive centre of higher education.

A visionary educator, productive researcher, and effective administrator, Dr. T. Sasipraba embodies the integration of academic excellence, innovative research, and societal commitment.
