Event Overview:
The Environment Club of VISTAS organized an innovative event titled “Art from Waste” on 27th January 2025, with the theme “Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse.” The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of waste management and sustainable practices by using waste materials to create useful and creative products. The event was held at the Pharmacy Conference Hall from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with 55 students participating in teams to demonstrate their creativity and environmental consciousness.
Objective:
The primary goal of this event was to:
- Encourage students to understand the importance of reducing, recycling, and reusing waste materials.
- Inspire the creative potential of students by transforming waste into something valuable.
- Showcase practical applications of recycled materials in daily life.
- Promote environmental sustainability and waste management practices within the student community.
Event Structure:

- Teams and Participants: A total of 11 teams participated in the event, each consisting of students who worked together to create innovative products using waste materials. Each team was provided with a selection of waste materials, including items like pista shells, waste paper, waste chart paper, thermocol, and plastic bottles.
- Materials Used: The students were given the freedom to use any of the available waste items. They showcased how materials, often discarded as trash, could be transformed into useful, aesthetically appealing, and functional products.
- Judging Criteria: A panel of judges evaluated the projects based on several key factors:
- Creativity: How creatively the team used the waste materials.
- Usefulness: The practicality and utility of the product created.
- Sustainability: The environmental impact and sustainability of the product.

Activities and Presentations:
The event kicked off with an introduction to the concept of recycling, followed by the distribution of materials to each team. The students spent two hours working on their projects, demonstrating excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills. The teams then presented their finished products to the judges and the audience, explaining the process and the benefits of recycling the chosen materials.
The variety of products created included:

- Functional objects like plant pots and organizers made from waste bottles and shells.
- Innovative artwork utilizing charts and leftover material to create intricate designs and models.
Prizes and Recognition:
After the presentations, the judges carefully evaluated each project, and three prizes were awarded to the top-performing teams. The criteria for the awards included creativity, practicality, and sustainability. The winning teams were recognized for their innovative approach and effective use of waste materials. The event concluded with a brief ceremony where the prizes were distributed, and participants were commended for their hard work, creativity, and commitment to environmental conservation.
