Comprehensive Medical Support

On-Campus First Aid & Infirmary

The University maintains a well-equipped Health Clinic with a qualified and trained full-time nurse on duty throughout the day to provide medical assistance to students and staff. The infirmary is furnished with essential first-aid facilities, including three beds, an observation table, a stretcher, two wheelchairs, weighing machines, a sphygmomanometer, and other necessary medical equipment.

The Health Clinic is designed to offer immediate care for minor injuries, illnesses, and general health concerns. It is managed by trained personnel and stocked with essential medical supplies to effectively address day-to-day healthcare needs.

Doctor for Emergencies
A qualified medical professional is available on campus daily. Students and wardens can access medical assistance 24/7, ensuring a prompt response to any health-related emergency.

Preventive Healthcare Initiatives

Annual Health Check-up Camps

The University places strong emphasis on preventive healthcare by organizing comprehensive health screening camps annually. These camps offer general health evaluations, along with specialized services such as dental and eye check-ups, and consultations with medical experts.

Advanced Medical Assistance

An ambulance is available on campus at all times to handle emergencies. In addition, the University provides access to its own Vels Medical College and Hospital, Thiruvallur, ensuring advanced medical care for students and staff.

The University also regularly conducts free health camps and wellness programs to promote healthy lifestyles, prevent diseases, and enhance overall well-being.

Salient features of Insurance Scheme

  • Medical Insurance under the Group Insurance Scheme
  • The student is covered for hospitalization upto Rs.50,000/- in case of non-accidental emergencies (as per the  Mediclaim  Insurance Policy) and Rs.1,00,000/-in case of Rail / Road traffic accidents (Copy of FIR , MLC & panchanama is required).
  • In case of hospitalization, the medical officer of  VISTAS personally visits the student to enquire about his/her wellness and progress.
  • A copy of the medical insurance policy document is available with the Registrar of the institute.
  • Hospitalizations for any medical reasons (other than emergencies) require the reference of the Medical Officer or Consultant, VISTAS.

Mental Health & Well-being

Recognizing the emotional challenges students may face while living away from home, the University has established a dedicated Centre for Well-being. The Centre offers:

  • Confidential counseling services by trained psychologists
  • One-on-one emotional support sessions
  • Group workshops on stress management, peer pressure, time management, and self-care
  • Awareness campaigns to reduce stigma around mental health
  • Students are encouraged to reach out freely and seek help in a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment
