A profoundly accomplished academician, Dr M. Chandrasekaran is grounded in an erudite educational trajectory that includes a Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from the Regional Engineering College (REC) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Production Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli. With over 26 years of experience, Dr.M.Chandrasekaran has been an integral part of VISTAS since September 2011, during which he has held diverse significant leadership roles, like Director of Mechanical Engineering and Dean of Academic Courses.

As an erudite scholar, Dr.M.Chandrasekaran’s research expertise encompasses manufacturing systems, optimization, scheduling, flexible manufacturing, composite materials, and computational modelling. He has contributed extensively to academic literature, authoring over 191 Scopus-indexed journal papers, 25 Web of Science papers, and numerous conference publications, accumulating more than 3,700 citations and 29 H-index citations in Google Scholar & 2668 citations of which 24 are hi-indexed in Scopus. His innovation prowess is demonstrated by 9 granted utility patents and 5 design patents, underscoring his commitment to bridging theoretical research and practical applications. Dr.M. Chandrasekaran has successfully secured research grants totaling over Rs 3.7 crores from prestigious agencies such as DST, DRDO, and AICTE, reflecting his influential role in advancing scientific inquiry and technology development.

Dr. M. Chandrasekaran serves as the Editor-in-Chief in reputed journals like International Journal of Production Technology and Management Research (IJPTMR) and International Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Material Sciences (IJMEMS). In addition, he is a committed peer reviewer for several high-impact international journals, such as International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Springer), International Journal of Production Research (Taylor & Francis), and the International Journal of Information Sciences (Elsevier). Over the course of his academic career, he has reviewed more than 100 research papers, which exhibits his deep expertise and active contribution to global scholarly communities.

Dr. M. Chandrasekaran’s leadership extends to various national academic developments. He has contributed to transformative initiatives such as Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and ATAL Faculty Development Programmes. He has served as a NAAC Peer Team Member, contributing to quality assurance and accreditation excellence across institutions. His committee engagements are extensive, including memberships in Academic Council, Executive Council, Finance Committee, Boards of Studies, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), National Education Policy (NEP) Cell, and Institutional Innovation Cells. He also serves as the Institution Innovation Ambassador, facilitating cutting-edge faculty development programs and national academic initiatives.

Dr.M.Chandrasekaran’s administrative stewardship at VISTAS, is marked by vision, discipline, and systems-level thinking. He oversees and strengthens critical academic functions, including regulatory compliance, examinations, curriculum governance, digital academic workflow systems, accreditation preparedness, faculty processes, and student-centric administrative mechanisms. As a passionate contributor to the academic community, he is affiliated with several national professional bodies, including IEI, ISTE, IAENG, IIPE, NIQR, and NFED. His committee engagements include Boards of Studies, Academic Councils, IQAC, research review panels, planning committees, disciplinary committees, and external advisory boards, which highlight his depth of expertise and trusted leadership.

Dr.M.Chandrasekaran’s illustrious career is marked by numerous accolades, including the Distinguished Educator & Scholar Award from the National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED) and the South Indian ASDF Best Scientist Award. He has also served as a jury member for the Young Scientist awards. He is a fellow and life member of reputable professional bodies, including the Institution of Engineers (FIE), and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), reflecting his stature as a global academic leader.
