The SC/ST/OBC Committee in VISTAS is a statutory support and welfare committee established in Higher Educational Institutions as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of India.
The primary objective of the Cell is to ensure equal opportunities, safeguard the rights and interests of students, faculty, and staff belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), and promote an inclusive, equitable, and discrimination-free academic environment.
Objectives of the SC/ST/OBC Cell
- To ensure effective implementation of the reservation policy and UGC/Government of India guidelines for SC, ST, and OBC students and employees.
- To promote equal opportunities and create an inclusive academic environment free from discrimination.
- To safeguard the rights and interests of SC, ST, and OBC students, faculty, and staff.
- To address and resolve grievances related to caste-based discrimination and ensure timely redressal.
- To disseminate information about scholarships, fellowships, financial assistance, and welfare schemes available for SC, ST, and OBC communities
