Institutional Ethics Committee is an independent body whose responsibility is to ensure the protection of the rights, safety and well being of human subjects involved in a trial and to provide public assurance of the protection. The IEC of School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vels Institute of Science Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS–SPS-IEC) is registered with Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) under Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (Ethics Committee Registration Division). The Ethics committee shall review and accord approval to Clinical Trial and BA/BE study protocol of new drugs and also conduct periodic review of the studies as per the New Drugs and Clinical Trial Rules, 2019.
